FAITH VILLAGE
For God’s Word to become part of our
children’s lives, it must not just be heard or
read, but also experienced.
A new and exciting Sunday School program for children grades K through 5, called Faith Village, began at Massanutten Presbyterian Church in September of 2005. Faith Village is a style of Sunday School called the Workshop Rotation Model, and it responds to the changing needs of today’s children, teachers, and church. It holds great promise for nurturing biblically literate children and demonstrating how God's word relates to their everyday life.
Our goal is to shape children
into active Christians who live the Bible
rather than just know it.
The Sunday School year is divided into units or rotations that are six weeks long, with each rotation being dedicated to the exploration of a single Bible story. The children rotate by grade level into a different workshop each week. During that time, the Bible story being taught will remain the same, but each workshop will be taught using a different style of learning & emphasize a different aspect of the story. Lesson plans are simple. The real difference between this model and the traditional model is that each workshop takes it time teaching the story through one kid-friendly mode. Although workshops change with every Bible Story, typical ones include: Drama, Art, Movies, Bible Games, Storytelling, Computer, Missions, Cooking, and Puppetry.
