MPC actively and creatively serves people in need, both locally and globally. In addition to giving monetary support to many important service organizations, MPC has these hands-on programs:
Food Pantry
The MPC Food Pantry distributes food, toiletries, diapers, and certain household supplies to needy families in the local area. Since its inception, the Food Pantry has distributed tons and tons of food and served hundreds of people. The dedicated members of the Food Pantry Committee consists of greeters, interviewers, runners, coordinator and kitchen staff. During months that have five Sundays, the fifth Sunday is designated as Food Pantry Sunday. Of course, you can bring food for the Food Pantry anytime as the need is constant.
Christmas Compassion Tree/Angel Tree
Each Christmas MPC members purchase approximately 150 Christmas gifts for these programs. The Christmas Compassion Tree is an MPC program to give gifts to needy families. MPC also gives gifts to local children of parents incarcerated in prison throught the Angel Tree program.
Habitat for Humanity
MPC is actively involved in Habitat for Humanity. MPC was the first church in the area to pay for and build a Habitat house by itself. MPC also organized a coalition of local churches which worked together to build and pay for another Habitat house.
Mission Trips
MPC has gone on numerous mission trips. These trips have included doing flood relief work and repairing the homes of needy families.
Haiti
MPC members have gone on two mission trips to Haiti. The purpose of these trips to date has been to establish a relationship with people in Haiti. While in Haiti, MPC members have worked at a small hospital, put on a Bible School, and done other outreach work. MPC sent money to Haiti to be used to build a school. In August 2002 MPC took a team of 11 members to help build benches and furniture for the school MPC funded and further established ties between people of Haiti and MPC. MPC has committed to send money to Haiti to build a church.
